Our next meeting will be on Saturday, October 25 at 6:00pm. The meeting will be held at the home of new club members Dennis and Megan. Originally, the club was going to help lift the body off the 1969 Karmann Ghia the couple is restoring. However, we will now be helping Dennis pull the vehicle’s engine. In return, Dennis and Megan will be making food for whoever is able to make the meeting. If we are lucky, they might just make some authentic deep dish pizza (they moved from Chicago earlier this year).

Who:
Everyone is invited! Even if you don’t drive a VW on the trip or belong to the club. Bring your friends and family as this will be a fun event for everyone!
What and When:
Well, the VW driving season is winding down for most of us and the VW Club is taking our final long cruise of the year on Saturday, September 27th. We will drive from Moorhead, MN to Maplewood State Park just east of Pelican Rapids, MN which should be perfect timing to see all the fall tree colors (great photo op. for you and your car).
Where, Why and everything else:
We will meet at McDonalds Restaurant along Highway 10 in Moorhead, MN (located next to Target - 3009 Hwy 10 E.) at 10:00am Saturday morning.
We will drive east down Highway 10. At Lake Park, MN we head south down Highway 5 & 9 to Pelican Rapids, MN where we will stop at the Visitor’s Center (25 North Broadway - next to the giant pelican statue) before heading east on Highway 108 to Maplewood State Park.
The park is hosting a special event known as “Leaf Days” and food will be available in the park. We will be eating lunch there. If you decide not to have food provided at the park, please bring along a bag lunch or some snacks.
There is a cost of $5 per vehicle to enter the state park. Here is a link to the Maplewood State Park website.
The drive from Moorhead will take around an hour each way. We plan to be back in the Fargo area around 3pm (give or take).
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Andrew at (701) 232-4269 or by email at info@redrivervwclub.com
With Fall in the air, we will be meeting at Wing Zone/Taco Johns to meet and plan our last “official” event of the 2008 Red River VW Club season. Final preparation for our Fall BBQ will take place. Wing Zone/Taco Johns is located at 1560 13 Ave E, West Fargo, ND near Old Navy. Hope to see you there.
Our monthly meeting will take place at Gooseberry Park in Moorhead, MN at 7:00. Thanks to Bill “Too” for the great park meeting suggestion. We will meet to discuss our summer activities, the Barnesville Potato Days car show, begin planning the Fall BBQ for 2008, and pat each other on the back for having our best Volkswagens in the Valley, right? Happy motoring.
